Shmuseum

The Challenge

Tim Burton - also known as ‘Shmee150’ - is a well-known YouTuber and car enthusiast. He embarked on a major refurbishment project to transform a 1,000 sq. m garage, formerly a milking parlour outside of London, into his dream car storage facility. This garage, now known as the ‘Shmuseum’, is home to his extensive collection of cars, also called ‘Shmeemobiles.’ 

Tim wanted to create a unique floorspace emulating a famous grand prix racetrack inside the garage. Multiple colours and finishes had to be achieved to make the track look as authentic as possible.

The Solution

Tim partnered with WestWood and contractors, Cure Group to realise his design vision.

The concrete floor was prepped with Wecryl 176, a fast-acting primer specifically designed for porous substrates. 

Adding design flexibility, Wecryl 488 was selected to achieve the different colours of the racetrack and intricate patterns. This PMMA-based resin can be supplied in any colour and is known for its high-grade, mechanically durable finish.

Decorative chips in two different colours were also used to provide a more authentic tarmac appearance.

The rapid curing time of WestWood’s PMMA system allowed the team to continue working on different parts of the floor design without long waits while its solvent-free properties improved safety during the indoor application.

The Outcome

The collaboration between WestWood and Cure Group delivered a standout race track design that met the YouTuber’s creative vision, and was Highly Commended in the Liquid Waterproofing Project of the Year category at the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing (LRWA) Awards in 2024. 

The project highlights the versatility and reliability of WestWood’s products, offering both functional robustness and creative freedom. As a result, the transformed Shmuseum now features a stunning, motorsport-inspired design that aligns with the owner's passion for cars and racing.
